edcliffe House
Historic Farmhouse Accommodation in Swansea on Tasmania's Freycinet Coast

Just 1.5kms north of Swansea on the banks of the Meredith River, Redcliffe House is a warm and inviting home that has grown from the original convict-built farm. It incorporates many of its original C1835 features. The 5.5 hectare property is a serene and peaceful haven for the traveller - a restful base from which to explore Tasmania's East Coast, including Freycinet National Park, Coles Bay and Wineglass Bay, the penguin colony at Bicheno, take part in land, sea and air activities and enjoy the fruit of our excellent wineries, or just appreciate the stunning scenery of the coastline. Nearby Swansea - just 1.5kms down the road - provides all necessary commercial facilities and first-class dining facilities.

Our Tasmanian East Coast accommodation comprises five rooms with ensuites, each with its own individual style and character, offering a range of choices to suit most travellers. We have two breakfast rooms and a guest lounge inside the house, and other facilities include access to the internet, loads of areas in the grounds for strolling about, picnicking, reading a book, enjoying a quiet glass of wine. We are more than happy to make restaurant or tour reservations on your behalf - bear in mind, only Telstra mobile services work in this part of Tasmania, and in many other parts of the island!

Close by also are the beautiful beaches of Dolphin Sands and small, little used bays along the coastline, coastal and river/lake fishing, hiking or exploring a number of national parks, and the impressive scenery of the Hazards and Wineglass Bay in the Freycinet National Park.

Plan a boat trip, kayaking, a scenic flight, abseiling - or visit the vineyards which abound in eastern Tasmania, noted for their quality pinot noirs, or berry farms. Redcliffe House's position on the east coast of Tasmania is 1.5 hours from both Hobart and Launceston, and day trips to St Helens, the Midlands or Port Arthur are quite possible for visitors who would rather have a home base and visit places of interest during the day rather than pack up and move on every morning.
